Good morning Little Gems, today we are going to start our day with some yoga.
Animals and fish all move in different ways.
Can you have a go at making this movements?
Now your body has warmed up, you are ready for our learning today…
What can you see in this picture?
What can you see floating on the waves?
What can you see that has sunk to the bottom of the ocean?
Today we want you carry out an experiment!
Today we would like you to test different objects in your home, do they float or do they sink? Can you make any predictions before you test them? Were you right or wrong? Send us some pictures or tell us in the comments below!
Play a game of: What am I? Read the clues below and guess what underwater creature they are describing. Write your guesses in the comment box below and I will tell you the answers later on in the day!
Have a read of these pictures created by Julia Donaldson with some of our favourite story characters. Talk with your grown-up about how these can help us all to stay safe. Remember our new school rule “We always keep everyone safe”, how will these help you at home or at Nursery?
This week we have been reading the story The Snail and the Whale by Julia Donaldson. Do you know who the characters are in the story? Who is your favourite character?
Do you like the snail? What do you know about snails? Here is some information for you to read about snails. I wonder how you could find out even more interesting facts about snails?
Do you like the whale from our story? What do you know about whales? Where do you think they live? What do you think they eat? Here is an interesting video about whales for you to watch…
There is also an interesting book on Getepic.com called Life under the sea – Whales with lots of information about whales for you to read. Click on the link below and see what you can find out about whales.
Now that you know all about snails, you might know where to find them. Where do you think they might be? Now get ready to go on a snail hunt, what will you do if you find one? Can you see the slime or the shell? Can you remember what the shell is for? Can you see the tentacles? What are they used for? If you can’t find a snail today, can you think of a reason why?
Now I would like you to create your own character from the story. You can use anything you like, you may be able to find natural materials outside that you would like to use, or you may have something inside that would be better. Here are some ideas…
Please remember to send pictures of your home learning or use the comment box below to tell us something about it.
I can’t wait to see you’re creations! Have fun Little Gems!
